Intimate gigs
Sofar Sounds
Secret-location gigs in living rooms — phones down, strangers close.
Origin
Started by Rafe Offer in his North London living room, March 2009. BYOB, secret venue, strangers on cushions.
“I have attended several shows, and have been impressed each time. The venues have been varied and unique.”

Our take
Strong on collective effervescence — a shared mood, mutual focus on the music, a real barrier to outsiders. For one night, it generates the emotional energy the frameworks describe.
Weak on becoming a regular, by design: the crowd rotates every show. It's bridging capital — a great way to meet someone new — but the bonding needs somewhere fixed to land afterwards.
