Open-air sauna and plunge site on a former industrial lot on Sutherland Road, Walthamstow — the Walthamstow branch of Community Sauna Baths. Three electric saunas in cedar plank, plus a distinctive octagonal Aufguss sauna with high tiered timber benches for theatrical heat ceremonies, all clustered around a central plunge island holding four cold-plunge tubs (3–15°C). Timber decking and gravel between. An open firepit and a community garden along one edge with raised beds and a wildflower strip. Coat racks, timber benches and a small reception kiosk near the gate. Working industrial neighbours visible over the fence; brick walls of the old works on one side. The whole site rough-and-functional rather than polished.

  • the octagonal aufguss sauna is the one to book. tiered benches mean you can sit low if the heat is too much on round one.
  • the four plunge tubs let you pick your temperature — start at the warmest, work down. nobody starts cold.
  • monday women-only morning and wednesday FLINTA evening sessions pull a tight regular crowd. that's the way in if you want community over drop-in.
  • firepit in the courtyard is where conversations actually happen. bring a flask of tea, sit between rounds.
  • NHS and student concessions are real — ask at reception, don't just book the standard slot.
