Large climbing centre tucked beneath the A40 Westway flyover in Ladbroke Grove, part of Westway Sports & Fitness Centre. The site sits under the dramatic concrete bridge deck of the elevated road, its tall painted-concrete climbing volume rising into the underbelly of the flyover. 350 climbing routes on 110 roped lines climb to 13.5m, with 100 bouldering problems rotated every four weeks. Plywood walls in slab, vertical, overhang and roof; bright resin holds in red, blue, yellow and green. A traverse wall along one side, two training rooms and a campus board off to the back. Four auto-belay machines hang from the ceiling. Mid-grey crash matting throughout; industrial floodlighting from the soffit; exposed concrete columns and the Westway slab visible overhead.

  • club night runs monday and wednesday 7-9pm — turn up alone and the staff pair you with a belay partner. that's the design.
  • the registered competent climber test is the gate — prove you can belay and tie in safely, then you can climb without booking a course.
  • 350 routes across 110 roped lines. 100 bouldering problems reset every four weeks — it stays fresh if you come monthly.
  • autobelays are the way to climb solo if your partner cancels. four machines, usually a queue at peak.
  • the westway climbing club facebook group is where people post for partners and trips. it's how the regulars connect outside the wall.
