Digital making is design turned into objects: a model printed in plastic, a sheet cut on a laser, a circuit soldered to do something. It lives in makerspaces and fab labs where the machines are too costly to own but cheap to use by the hour, usually after an induction, and where the shared bench means the person next to you can show you what went wrong.

A makerspace is a workshop for tools that arrived after the saw and the lathe. Inductions teach the machines, then members book time on them — and the help you get from the next bench is often the real lesson.
The 11 Spaces below all offer inductions or open sessions on 3D printing, laser cutting and electronics. Bring an idea and someone will help you make the first version.
