Queer Running Club meets at Brunswick East café in Hackney Downs Studios — a small independent café in a converted warehouse complex on Amhurst Terrace. The Studios courtyard is a triangular open space between brick warehouse buildings, with timber benches, planters and string lights overhead. The group gathers at the café doors before each session, then heads out through Hackney Downs park or the surrounding streets in pace-grouped packs. The pre-run circle happens on the cobbles outside Brunswick East; the post-run social happens inside the café or at a nearby pub. Coaches Kole and Sam, group leaders Dalia and Luke address the group at each session. The atmosphere is deliberately quieter and slower than the bigger crews — designed for couch-to-5k entry.

  • beginners session runs every other thursday 7pm. you don't have to have run before — the session is built for couch-to-5k.
  • sam and kole are the coaches, dalia and luke run the groups. you'll know them by face after one session.
  • safe-space identity is the actual structure. it's a cic, established 2019, and the boundaries hold.
  • you stay together for the whole session — no-one gets left behind. don't worry about being slow on round one.
  • always a social after the run. that's where the regulars meet. dm @queerrunningclub if you want to come along to a beginner thursday.
